The Pakesso with rudder is both compact and lightweight. The rudder will appeal to the novice paddler, by allowing them to easily steer the kayak. A more experienced paddler will appreciate the reverse hard chine combined with a semi-arched hull. Standard equipment includes a rudder, a comfort seat, recessed hatches with quick release, thigh braces, recessed fittings and deck line.

Pakesso is the Abenaki word for "ruffed grouse", better known as "partridge" in North America. The ruffed grouse is a bird with a wonderful red or grey plumage. The plumage is usually fan-shaped over the head of this bird that inhabits the dense undergrowth of deciduous forests. The Aboriginal people call it a “carpenter bird” because of the noise it makes with its wings in springtime.
